The early bird special

The early bird special

Ithink I have been a premature baby (though am yet to confirm with mother) because I have always held dear the art of excellent time keeping. I like to live by the virtue that if you are five minutes early, you are late and have often wished that time keeping would be turned into an olympic sport as I bring home the gold every time.

The value of always being early has a great advantage to me but more so in this one occasion. I had been invited for a power breakfast meeting by KAWBO and true to form I was there thirty minutes in early. The organizers were just setting up and I got a chance to pick her brain on various issues in our similar organizational goals. As the guests started to arrive we moved in for breakfast and I got a chance to sit with three brilliant ladies from various industries. We had a very stimulating conversation on SMEs in Kenya and what it means to be one. Key on the agenda was how the various institutions; government, banks etc classify SMEs. It is according to the number of employees, revenue turnover or other criteria and what came out clearly is the need to come up with a clear cut definition for SMEs to streamline a lot of the process that these business owner to go through.
